In this lesson you will learn about
locksmith ethics. After completing this lesson you
should have a good understanding of how to run your
business ethically. This is the most important lesson of this course. Please take your time to read carefully and learn this lesson. It will save you trouble in the long run. Ethics is defined as "the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc." First and foremost being a locksmith is not just about profit. That doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with making profit; however, you must follow certain ethics in doing so. The following ethics rules you will help you top run your business in an ethical manner. 1. Always conduct yourself in a dignified and professional manner and refrain from using improper or unprofessional methods. 2. Place a customers welfare over profit and properly and impartially analyze all situations to the best of their ability and offer customers the best, most secure , safest, and most cost effective solution. 3. Abide by applicable licensing, registration, and business regulations for their local, county and state governments. 4. Always advertise and conduct business in a honorable and non-deceptive manner. 5. Never use your professional skills, training, or expertise to commit a criminal act or any other act which will bring discredit upon the locksmith profession. 6. Never leave lock picks or other bypass tools in an unsecure location or loan them to untrained persons. 7. Always remember that your skills and knowledge place you in a position of trust and you must never abuse this position. The Ethics rules listed above are guidelines to help you to run your business. As your business grows you will develop your own standards and ethics to run your business by. Just remember to treat your customers the way you want to be treated.Lastly, remember if a person is in danger (i.e. a child locked in a car) it is always better to assist the person in danger then worry about profit. Many locksmiths will open a car for free if a child is locked in the car. |
